INTERLAKEN, NY (607NewsNow) – The owner of a Tompkins County-based transportation service has pleaded guilty to felony grand larceny.
On June 30, State Attorney General Letitia James announced the plea of Interlaken man David Moore for submitting false and inflated claims to Medicaid through his business, ASAP Cab Company, located on Mecklenburg Road in the Town of Enfield.
The 56-year-old admitted to lying about the number of passengers on his trips, the mileage, and paying illegal kickbacks to his riders to continue using ASAP 2 services, resulting in more than $50,000 in fraudulent payments. The crimes occurred between January 1, 2019, and August 31, 2023.
Moore was arrested in June 2024 and charged with six felonies in total, including two counts of health care fraud and three counts of medical assistance provider prohibited practices. At the time, he was accused of defrauding Medicaid in excess of $1 million.
Attorney General James did not release sentencing or restitution information for Moore.
