OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tioga County Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey has extended a state of emergency for another five days.

Residents and businesses are still barred from transporting or housing asylum seekers. The order, which was first issued May 11, will remain in place through July 4.

Cortland County dropped its state of emergency earlier this month, while Cayuga County extended its emergency order earlier this week.
