ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – An Ithaca man awaits his day in court.

On June 12, officers working a Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) detail conducted a traffic stop around 11 p.m. on West Clinton Street in the City of Ithaca.

According to the Ithaca Police Department, a K9 was deployed after a roadside interview with the driver, 29-year-old Edrick Acosta-Ramos. The K9 officer alerted to the exterior of the vehicle, and a search was conducted.

Acosta-Ramos was allegedly found with a loaded 9mm handgun with a large-capacity magazine, as well as a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Acosta-Ramos is charged with two counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon, felony tampering with evidence, and misdemeanor criminal use of drug paraphernalia. Acosta-Ramos was taken to Tompkins County Jail on $100,000 cash bail.
