OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – Owego’s Strawberry Festival is here.

The 3-day event kicks off this afternoon with the Rock ‘n ‘Run 5K. Tomorrow, multiple street closures and parking limitations begin in the village at 2 p.m. ahead of the Block Party, which runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with fireworks set to start at 9:30 p.m.

On Saturday, festivities begin at 9 a.m., with the parade set to start at 9:30 a.m. According to the Owego Police Department, traffic detour routes and additional road closures will be established at 5 a.m. on Saturday. For more information about the festival, click here.

A list of parking and traffic impacts is below.

 

Friday

  • Court Street and Court Street Parking Lot – closing at 6 p.m. until after fireworks, all vehicles must be removed by 4 p.m. or risk being towed.
  • Lake Street – closing at 2 p.m., vehicles must be removed by 3 p.m. or risk being towed
  • Front Street – closing between Paige Street and Academy Street at 2 p.m., vehicles must be removed by 3 p.m. or risk being towed

Saturday

  • Lake Street – closed until the end of the festival
  • Court Street and lot – closed until the end of the festival
  • Park Street – closed until the end of the festival
  • Front Street – closed between Paige Street and Academy Street until the end of the festival

Additionally, residents in the following areas must have their vehicles removed from the street by 1 a.m. Saturday or risk being towed.

  8. Fox Street from McMaster Street to North Ave

  12. McMaster Street between Main Street and Temple Street
  13. Church Street from Temple Street to Front Street
  14. North Ave from Main Street to Fox Street
  15. Paige Street from Fox Street to Front Street
  16. John Street
  17. Fulton Street
  18. East Main Street from Fulton Street to Erie Street
  19. Elm Street
  20. Hyde Parking Lot
  21. Ross Street, 100 feet from Main Street and Front Street at both ends
