ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Two people are accused of stealing from a business in Ithaca.
On May 28, Ithaca Police were dispatched to the 100 block of East State Street at approximately 2:18 a.m. for a reported burglary in progress.
Officers say they observed forced entry into the business and took 47-year-old Michael Jones Jr. into custody, though he punched and spat in the face of an officer. According to the Ithaca Police Department (IPD), a second suspect left with stolen merchandise before officers arrived. A search warrant was executed at an apartment in the Asteri building, and numerous items reported stolen were located inside.
Around 12:41 p.m., officers located and arrested the second suspect, 32-year-old Ynasia Adams, near the scene of the alleged crime on the Ithaca Commons.
Jones Jr. is charged with felony burglary, felony criminal mischief, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration. Adams is charged with burglary. Both were remanded to Tompkins County Jail.
