ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The recent rain drought is proving to be costly in Ithaca.

The town is running a study on its infiltration and inflow systems. On Monday, officials determined no wet weather events were captured during a recent 30-day stretch from mid-May to early June. Town Supervisor Rod Howe says more data is necessary.

“We really need to extend the time the information is being collected,” he says.

The Town Board voted to keep the study going for an additional $57,000 – but some of that money could be given back if enough data is gathered.
