ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — A bill sponsored by Assemblymember Anna Kelles has passed.
The legislation is designed to save Ithaca Carshare, which had to pause operations beginning last month. Kelles’ bill allows insurance companies located outside of New York to cover ride share programs like Ithaca Carshare. Earlier this week, State Senator Lea Webb’s version of the bill was approved in the state Senate.
Friday on Ithaca’s Morning News, Ithaca Carshare Director Liz Field reacted to the legislation passing and offered a timeline of when operations may resume. They were placed on pause May 19.
