CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Two people face multiple charges after leading police on a chase through Cortland.
On March 31, Cortland Police observed a gray Jeep matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen the day before. A patrol sergeant attempted a traffic stop, but the Jeep took off. The high-speed pursuit allegedly spanned many city streets and down railroad tracks. The suspects ditched the car on Randall Street and fled on foot.
According to the Cortland Police Department, officers located surveillance footage confirming the descriptions of the suspects, and a few hours later, 40-year-old Chad Cain was arrested.
Cain is charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property, felony criminal mischief, misdemeanor reckless endangerment, misdemeanor unlawfully fleeing a police officer, misdemeanor criminal trespass, and misdemeanor obstructing governmental administration.
Cain was arraigned and held in Cortland County Jail.
Lisa Walker, 31, was allegedly the passenger in the Jeep. She was located on April 1 and taken into custody on an unrelated larceny warrant. Walker is additionally charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property.
The investigation is ongoing.
