SOLON, NY (607NewsNow) — An investigation of animal neglect in Cortland County turned into a weapons arrest.

State Police say Kyle Heller was arrested Thursday in Solon. The 38-year-old was found with several guns, which is illegal because he’s a convicted felon. Heller is charged with the following:

  • One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, class “D” felony
  • Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (possession of large capacity magazines), class “D” felony
  • One count of Criminal Possession of an Assault Weapon in the third degree, Class “D” felony
  • Four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon the fourth degree, misdemeanor

In addition, 41 animals who need immediate care were removed from the property on Wildman Road. Charges about the animals are pending based on veterinary reports.
