OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – An Owego man faces multiple charges after a domestic violence incident.

Charles Beuter is accused of physically harming a victim known to him, holding her against her will, firing a gun, and threatening to kill the victim, her family, and any responding officers.

On March 3, Owego Police were called to 171 Talcott Street in the village around 8:08 a.m. after the victim involved in the incident was able to escape and phone authorities. Due to the proximity to schools, a lockdown was initiated at Owego Free Academy (OFA).

Authorities say Beuter barricaded himself in a shed, and unmarked units conducted surveillance and isolated him until a search warrant was issued around 3:45 p.m.  The New York State Police Special Operations Response Team took Beuter into custody. OFA School Resource Officers were stationed at the school until Beuter was secured.

Beuter is charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon, felony unlawful imprisonment, misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor menacing, and misdemeanor reckless endangerment. He is being held in Tioga County Jail on $150,000 cash bail and $100,000 bond.
