SEMPRONIUS, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cayuga County man awaits his day in court.
On February 12, deputies arrested Norman Dewitt, of Sempronius. The 28-year-old is accused of shooting his girlfriend’s pet pig during a domestic dispute on February 5. Authorities say Dewitt killed the animal in front of a 15-year-old, and disabled home security cameras before doing so.
Dewitt is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal tampering, and the NYS Agriculture and Markets Law for torturing, injuring, or not feeding an animal. All charges are misdemeanors.
Dewitt is being held in Cayuga County Jail on $10,000 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in Sempronius Town Court on February 19, at 6 p.m.
