OVID, NY (607NewsNow) — Main Street in Ovid is open.
East and West Seneca Streets have also reopened, though the Ovid Fire Department says crews are working on restoring phone and internet service. Officials also say there are still hot spots from Tuesday’s block fire, which destroyed several buildings, but adds it’s not necessary to call 911 unless you see flames. The fire was caused by a portable charger, Seneca County Sheriff Timothy Thompson said Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Ovid Fire Department says they will stop accepting donations after today. “At this point, we are no longer accepting additional donations. We deeply appreciate the overwhelming generosity and support from everyone who has contributed,” OFD said on Facebook. They’ll be open today from 3-5 p.m.
