ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County’s unhoused population could soon be able to shower.
According to Legislator Travis Brooks, a deal has been struck to allow people utilizing the Code Blue Shelter to access showers. Unlike the hotels and motels utilized by clients who qualify for Temporary Housing Assistance, the emergency cold weather shelter in Ithaca, which was renovated on short notice, does not having bathing facilities.

In December 2024, Tompkins County Legislators approved $10,000 from contingency funds to develop a bus pass and shower access program.
