OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — Tioga County needs a new coroner.
It’s a position that requires being on call 24/7 every day of the year. The coroner responds to all deaths in the county, writes the death certificate, and coordinates transportation for the deceased.
Tioga County lost a coroner to retirement on New Year’s Eve. Letters of interest and resumes must be submitted to legislators by January 24th. They can be sent to Clerk of the Legislature, Cathy Haskell, by mail (56 Main St., Owego) or by e-mailing her.
Also in Tioga County, Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey was re-elected on Thursday in her role–her last time before retiring at the end of 2025.
