ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Beginning next season, playoff football comes to the Ivy League.
According to Cornell University, the Ivy Council of Presidents has approved a proposal allowing football teams to participate in the NCAA Division 1 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) postseason for the first time in league history.
The idea was brought forth a year ago by the Ivy League’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, which consists of 17 student-athletes from all eight Ivy institutions across 12 different sports.
Cornell Head Coach Dan Swanstrom says he’s thrilled to embrace the challenge.
