OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — Tioga County has a new health director.

Heather Vroman was recently appointed after serving in an interim leadership role since January.

Vroman, who has worked in the Tioga County Public Health Department for a dozen years, is a 2006 graduate of SUNY Cortland. She earned a Master’s Degree in education with a concentration in health education.

After a few years working in North Carolina, Vroman returned to Tioga County in 2011.

Tioga County Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey says Vroman’s knowledge and passion for public health made her the best candidate.

“Heather’s knowledge for Public Health
and passion for serving Tioga County made her the perfect candidate for this position. I cannot
wait to see the improvements and growth that we anticipate from the department.”

Vroman tells WHCU she’s “honored” to serve.
