LISLE, NY (CortacaToday) – A highway worker in Broome County is okay after nearly being hit by a truck.

On October 28, 2024, State Police say several workers were mowing lawns and picking up trash along I-81 near Whitney Point when a box truck smashed into two NYSDOT vehicles parked on the shoulder. Muhammed Wesley, of Arizona, failed to observe the work area and nearly struck a DOT employee. The 36-year-old Wesley was reportedly ticketed. No injuries were reported.

Troopers reminds drivers of the state’s Move Over Law for vehicles stopped on the roadway.
