CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — Cortland is a pro-housing community.
The designation, which comes from the New York State Office of Homes and Community Renewal, opens the city up to $650 million in grants. “As part of this designation the City will look to incorporate regional housing needs into our local planning decisions with a goal of increasing the development of housing units,” Mayor Scott Steve said.
According to the city, “In order to achieve the designation the City will work to streamline the process for renovating and adding new multifamily housing, affordable housing, accessible housing, accessory dwelling units, and supportive housing within the community.”
New York’s pro-housing program was created in July 2023.
