CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) — An investigation into a Cortland fire is over.

Chief Wayne Friedman tells WHCU flames that injured two people last month at the Bardmore Terrace apartment complex was an accident. Friedman says the fire involved lithium-ion batteries, which the chief notes belonged to battery-operated scooters found inside an apartment.

State investigators were called in to determine the cause.
