WAVERLY, NY (CortacaToday) – A Waverly man faces multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence.
Just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Waverly Police were called to Center Street for a report of a hit-and-run property damage motor vehicle collision. Using a license plate number obtained by an eyewitness, authorities located 38-year-old Jonathon Houghtalen at his home in the village.
Waverly PD says Houghtalen was driving intoxicated and left the scene of the collision, which caused a significant amount of damage. He allegedly dropped his 16-year-old off at Waverly JR-SR High School just before the accident.
Houghtalen is charged with felony aggravated unlicensed operation, misdemeanor aggravated DWI, misdemeanor DWI, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, and a violation for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
He is due in the Village of Waverly Justice Court in November.
