ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – Four people have been charged with gang assault in Ithaca.

Around 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2024, Ithaca Police were called to the Commons for a report of a possible hate crime. A group of four males approached a pair of pedestrians and allegedly assaulted them. The initial police report states “the suspects reportedly made derogatory comments about the victim’s ethnicity.”

According to IPD, no evidence was found to support the claim of a hate crime.

One adult, 21-year-old Kaeden Denmark, of Spencer, and three juveniles were arrested. Denmark was arraigned and remanded to Tompkins County Jail. The juveniles were referred to Tompkins County Family Court and released to the custody of their parents.
