OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) — A long-delayed project in Tioga County is moving forward.

In 2019, county officials announced the Interoperable Radio Project to ensure complete coverage for 911 calls in areas where there is no radio service.

$Six million in grant money from the state was awarded recently to Tioga County for completion of the project, which Legislative Chair Martha Sauerbrey says is a big help.

Tioga County’s 911 Center has upgraded their equipment.
