ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – A capital campaign at the Ithaca Farmers Market has officially been launched.

The Friends of the Ithaca Farmers Market was awarded a $3.2 million Local Waterfront Revitalization Grant from New York State, but it requires $750,000 in matching funds. The non-profit organization is currently about halfway to its goal.

If successful, the money would be used for improvements at the Steamboat Landing parking lot. They include creating accessible pathways, improving traffic flow, reducing parking chaos, eliminating potholes and mud puddles, linking the Cayuga Waterfront Trail, and reducing runoff into Cayuga Lake. IFM officials say it will make a better and safer experience for market visitors.
