FREEVILLE, NY (CortacaToday) — State funding is headed to a Freeville group.
The William George Agency is getting $20,000 for the development of their Agriculture Education Center. The funding was announced Tuesday by Senator Lea Webb.
“We are grateful to Senator Webb for her confidence in our mission and for securing funding for our budding initiative to create an Agriculture Education Center on our campus that supports farming and agricultural activities for youth,” Executive Director Helen Hulings said.
“Such a dedicated space will help at-risk youth of all abilities in our residential and after-school programs to develop critical skills while creating positive memories. Funds will be used to help furnish the initiative with necessary equipment and supplies.”
In a statement announcing the funding, Webb said agriculture and outdoor activities allows youngsters to “gain valuable life skills, develop confidence, and have the opportunity to discover new passions and career paths.”
