MARATHON, NY (607NewsNow) — The Marathon Central School District is dealing with a deficit.
Superintendent Jamie Coppola tells 607 News Now a $3 million shortfall is the result of a shortage in revenue and overspending during the 2024-25 school year.
The district has proposed abut $2 million in cuts to staff and programs, Coppola added.
The proposed reductions are part of Marathon’s school budget vote on May 19.
