ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – More money is headed to the region to shore up emergency response communications.

State Senator Lea Webb says over $550,000 in funding through the Public Safety Answering Point Operations Grant program (PSAP) is coming to Tompkins, Cortland, and Broome Counties to develop next-generation 911 technologies.

The grant money follows over $2.3 million recently announced for equipment upgrades through the Statewide Interoperable Communications Formula Grant program (SICG-Formula).
