CORTLAND, NY (CortacaToday) – A wanted Cortland man is in custody.

Around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2024, Cortland Police were called to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center for a report that a man with outstanding warrants was parked there.

Officers noticed a white SUV they believed to be occupied by Jahree Cathcart when they arrived. Using the patrol car’s public address system, they asked the 25-year-old to get out of his vehicle. Cathcart allegedly backed into the police car and sped off, but not before officers popped one of his tires using a stop stick.

The pursuit was short and ended at the nearby Northview Apartment complex. Police say Cathcart was non-compliant and a taser was used.

He now faces felony criminal mischief and misdemeanor resisting arrest on top of his original charges. He’s being held in Cortland County Jail without bail.

Cathcart will appear in court on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
