CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A place to play sports in Cortland will become safer.

On July 1, city officials approved plans to install wall pads in the Parker School’s gymnasium. The pads will be purchased and installed by Ohio-based business AK Athletic Equipment for about $9,304.

The gym is used to play pickleball, basketball, and volleyball. In June, Cortland’s Common Council approved plans to resurface the gym’s floor.

Funds donated by Bailey Place Insurance will help pay for the pads and the resurfacing.
