CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Cortland’s school budget revote is today.
The district is asking for voter approval of a $61.2 million proposed spending plan. It includes a tax levy increase of nearly 2.4 percent, which is within the state tax cap—and smaller than what the district proposed last month. Polls are open at the Kaufman Center, Cortlandville municipal garage, and Virgil Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Superintendent Bob Edwards tells WHCU a simple majority is all that’s needed to approve the budget proposal. If the vote fails, the Cortland Enlarged City School District will operate under a contingency budget for the 2025-26 school year.
