VARNA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Varna Volunteer Fire Company (VVFC) has been recognized for excellence.

VVFC has achieved an ISO Class 2 rating, joining approximately 2,000 fire departments out of 38,000 nationwide. The Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating evaluates the effectiveness of a fire department’s overall fire suppression capabilities. The rating places VVFC in the top 5% of departments in New York and the United States and could also reduce homeowners’ insurance premiums in the service area.

“This rating is a testament to the hard work, training, and commitment of our members to enhance our response capabilities and ensure we meet the highest standard of fire protection,” said VVFC Chief Mason Jager.

In a release, VVFC officials credited the dedication of previous and current members and mutual aid partners in earning the distinction.
