VARICK, NY (607NewsNow) – A Seneca County town is upgrading its wastewater system.
Varick has received a $5,303,500 in state funding to help create Sewer District #4.
The sewer system will be installed along Route 89 near Cayuga Lake, replacing private septic systems. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, it will improve water quality in the lake and help reduce harmful algal blooms.
The money comes from New York’s Water Infrastructure Improvement grant program.
