ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) – Seven New York counties have been named primary natural disaster areas.
The designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend emergency credit to farmers to help recover from tornadoes, flash floods, excessive rain, hail, and high winds that happened from July 10, 2024, through July 16, 2024. The emergency loans can be used to replace essential equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review loan applications based on extent of losses, security available, and the ability to repay.
Producers in Tompkins, Cortland, Seneca, Erie, Lewis, and Wyoming Counties are among those eligible for the emergency loans. Applications are due by April 14, 2025.
