SYRACUSE, NY (607NewsNow) – A Department of Justice official continues to familiarize himself with partners in his district, this time from Tioga County.
United States Attorney of the Northern District of New York John Sarcone III met with federal, state, and local officials last week.
In addition to Regional FBI, DEA, Homeland Security Investigators, and ATF agents, Sarcone met with State Police Troop C Commander Major Lucas Shuta, Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard, Tioga County District Attorney Kirk Martin, Owego Village Police Chief Joe Kennedy, and Owego Village Police Lieutenant Rudy Park, among others.
“The U.S. Attorney’s Office is committed to providing resources to our law enforcement partners, leveraging our collective resources and expertise, and sharing information to investigate and prevent crime in Tioga County,” stated Sarcone, who also recently met with law enforcement officials in Broome County.

Former U.S. Attorney of the Northern District of New York Carla Freedman resigned in February after three years in the role, and 17 years in the U.S. Attorney’s Northern District Office in Syracuse. Freedman became the first female U.S. Attorney in the district in 2021 after being nominated by President Joe Biden and confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
