ULYSSES, NY (607NewsNow) – A new culvert will benefit water infrastructure and the environment in Ulysses.

The town has received a $520,352 grant to replace an undersized culvert on Garrett Road. The funding comes from the NYS DEC Water Quality Improvement Program.

Officials say the new equipment will be an arch culvert with a natural channel bottom. Closed on three sides and open on the bottom, the culvert will reduce erosion, stabilize the streambank, and improve aquatic connectivity in the Cayuga Lake watershed.
