ULYSSES, NY (607NewsNow) — Ulysses could see more space for frisbee and soccer.
The town is considering accepting a land donation on Cold Springs Road. The roughly 15-acre property would be used for recreation.
In December 2023, town residents rejected the potential purchase of recreational land on Kraft Road. Unlike that proposal, no public funds would be spent on this new acquisition.
At a public hearing on April 8, Tompkins County Legislator Anne Koreman said the donation could benefit “everybody of all ages.” Other residents, like Patty Porter, expressed concerns about privacy.
“I moved from South Hill near Ithaca College to get away from the noise . . . and I totally enjoy the peace and quiet that Cold Springs Road has given me,” Porter said. “I realize as soon as this park starts, that will be gone.”
The town will gather more feedback tonight at 7 p.m. at Ulysses Town Hall.
