ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County Sheriff Derek Osborne credits Flock Safety cameras in a recent arrest.
On December 31, the Sheriff’s Office received an alert that a vehicle reported stolen in Broome County was spotted in Ithaca near Green and Cayuga Street.
Deputies located the vehicle on Ithaca Road and initiated a traffic stop. Both the driver and passenger were arrested after Broome County authorities confirmed the vehicle was stolen.
The driver, 33-year-old Michael Smythe, of Binghamton, is charged with felony possession of stolen property and misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation. He was released on an appearance ticket.
The passenger, 32-year-old Ebony Parham, of Vestal, was also charged with possession of stolen property. Additionally, it was discovered that Parham used to go by the name Ebony Smythe, who has an active warrant for violating probation in North Carolina.
Parham is being held pending extradition to the Tar Heel State.
