CORTLANDVILLE, NY (CortacaToday) – A New York City man is accused of multiple crimes after a traffic stop on Interstate 81 in Cortlandville.

State Police say 43-year-old Eduardo Azcona was speeding and driving with a suspended license when they pulled him over on Tuesday. The Corona, Queens man tried to flee on foot during the stop, but he was taken into custody after a struggle in which he was tased. Troopers obtained a warrant and a subsequent search of Azcona’s vehicle allegedly found a large number of drugs including crack, cocaine, MDMA, and fentanyl.

Alleged Approximate Amounts:

  • 3.5 ounces crack cocaine
  • 1.9 ounces powder cocaine
  • 28 grams MDMA
  • 11.4 ounces fentanyl
  • 20 ounces cannabis

Azcona is charged with four counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanors.

  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance first-degree (narcotic drug 8 oz or more) class A felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance second-degree (hallucinogen) class A felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance third-degree (narcotic) class B felony
  • Criminal possession of a controlled substance third-degree class B felony
  • Criminal possession of Cannabis third-degree misdemeanor (more than 16 oz)
  • Aggravated unlicensed operation third-degree misdemeanor
  • Resisting arrest misdemeanor
