CORTLANDVILLE, NY (CortacaToday) – A New York City man is accused of multiple crimes after a traffic stop on Interstate 81 in Cortlandville.
State Police say 43-year-old Eduardo Azcona was speeding and driving with a suspended license when they pulled him over on Tuesday. The Corona, Queens man tried to flee on foot during the stop, but he was taken into custody after a struggle in which he was tased. Troopers obtained a warrant and a subsequent search of Azcona’s vehicle allegedly found a large number of drugs including crack, cocaine, MDMA, and fentanyl.
Alleged Approximate Amounts:
- 3.5 ounces crack cocaine
- 1.9 ounces powder cocaine
- 28 grams MDMA
- 11.4 ounces fentanyl
- 20 ounces cannabis
Azcona is charged with four counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanors.
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance first-degree (narcotic drug 8 oz or more) class A felony
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance second-degree (hallucinogen) class A felony
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance third-degree (narcotic) class B felony
- Criminal possession of a controlled substance third-degree class B felony
- Criminal possession of Cannabis third-degree misdemeanor (more than 16 oz)
- Aggravated unlicensed operation third-degree misdemeanor
- Resisting arrest misdemeanor
