OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – Owego’s Strawberry Festival is here.
The 3-day event kicks off this afternoon with the Rock ‘n ‘Run 5K. Tomorrow, multiple street closures and parking limitations begin in the village at 2 p.m. ahead of the Block Party, which runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., with fireworks set to start at 9:30 p.m.
On Saturday, festivities begin at 9 a.m., with the parade set to start at 9:30 a.m. According to the Owego Police Department, traffic detour routes and additional road closures will be established at 5 a.m. on Saturday. For more information about the festival, click here.
A list of parking and traffic impacts is below.
Friday
- Court Street and Court Street Parking Lot – closing at 6 p.m. until after fireworks, all vehicles must be removed by 4 p.m. or risk being towed.
- Lake Street – closing at 2 p.m., vehicles must be removed by 3 p.m. or risk being towed
- Front Street – closing between Paige Street and Academy Street at 2 p.m., vehicles must be removed by 3 p.m. or risk being towed
Saturday
- Lake Street – closed until the end of the festival
- Court Street and lot – closed until the end of the festival
- Park Street – closed until the end of the festival
- Front Street – closed between Paige Street and Academy Street until the end of the festival
Additionally, residents in the following areas must have their vehicles removed from the street by 1 a.m. Saturday or risk being towed.

- Fox Street from McMaster Street to North Ave

- Ross Street, 100 feet from Main Street and Front Street at both ends
