ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is getting grant money. 

Sheriff Derek Osborne says it’s for C.A.R.E., or Crisis Alternative Response and Engagement. 

Researchers will look into data, some of which is publicly available.

The sheriff notes there are also some intangibles.

Sheriff Osborne says the research will likely take up to a year and a half to complete.
