ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County’s Rapid Medical Response team was busy in 2024 and looks to stay busy in 2025.
The Department of Emergency Response’s EMS Manager Joe Milliman recently shared first-year statistics for the 2-year pilot program, which launched in April last year.
Municipalities have benefitted from the program, which is designed to reduce response times in rural parts of the county and give respite to overworked ambulatory service providers. Milliman shared details on a recent life-saving call.
One municipality accounted for nearly 50% of the 2024 calls, and the trend persists.
Milliman added they’re track to take roughly 1,300 calls in 2025. Funding for the 2-year pilot program is set to end in December.
