ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The search is now on for a new library director.
The Tompkins County Public Library is officially looking coast to coast for a new leader. According to a statement from the library, the following are minimum requirements:
- Graduation from an ALA accredited school or program with a graduate degree in library or information studies
- Possession of, or eligibility for, a New York State Public Librarian’s Professional Certificate
- Eight years of satisfactory professional library experience in a library of recognized standing, two years of which must have been in an administrative capacity
“To be considered, candidates must apply through the Tompkins County Human Resources website by May 14, 2025 and complete a Civil Service examination,” the statement noted.
Leslie Tabor, the former director, resigned last month. Former Tompkins County Legislator Susan Currie is currently serving as interim director. The Board of Trustees will form a selection committee and hopes to have someone hired by October 1.
