ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Tompkins County Public Library (TCPL) is changing its lending guidelines.

The TCPL has approved updates to its automatic renewal policy and library card eligibility.

Beginning August 1, the number of automatic renewals for loaned items will change from 6 to 2. Officials say it will increase the availability of inventory for all users.

Additionally, anyone residing in or working in Tompkins County can obtain a library card. Previously, users needed to provide proof of a residential address.
