DANBY, NY (607NewsNow) – A Tompkins County native and schoolteacher wants to get more involved.

Kyle Erickson is running to be a Tompkins County Legislator. Still gathering petition signatures for her run, Erickson says the voice of working parents in the county needs to be heard.

Erickson adds that her time at Ithaca High School has helped her understand the broader needs of the population.

“I’m just really deeply committed to this place,” said Erickson. “I spent most of my life here. My mom lives here, my brother lives here. I love it.”

Erickson will seek the seat currently occupied by Legislative Chair Dan Klein, who in January announced he will not seek another term after 12 years on the Legislature. District 7 will become District 13 next year the when the county restructures the legislative district map.
