ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — New voting machines could cost Tompkins County more money than expected.
The county had anticipated receiving $80,000 in state funding, but that money never materialized. Lawmakers now plan to spend $37,727 from the contingent fund to cover the full cost.
A decision has not yet been made, as county legislators are reviewing the matter.
In March 2024, the county debuted new voting machines during village elections.
