ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — The director of Ithaca’s airport wants to create new jobs.
Roxan Noble says several service contracts for paid parking, overnight security, landscaping, and snow plowing place a significant financial strain on the Ithaca Tompkins International Airport.
She’s submitted a proposal to Tompkins County’s Budget, Capital, and Personnel Committee for the creation of two full-time positions that could save the airport about 50 thousand dollars.
“To support this transition, we have reviewed and adjusted the Maintenance Worker job description, collaborated with payroll and human resources, and proposed the addition of two Airport Fire Fighters/Operations Technicians. This addition will eliminate overtime costs for late flights by ensuring 24-hour coverage, reduce overtime for snow removal, and provide necessary support for medical flights and security incidents,” Noble says.
The committee meets this morning at nine o’clock.
