ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County’s Code Blue shelter is still open.

On April 1, county officials announced that the building will remain open through the end of the month.

Anyone in need of a safe place to stay at night, regardless of temperature, or a warm place during the day, can report to the shelter on Cherry Street in Ithaca.

Beginning May 1, anyone requiring emergency shelter services should contact the Tompkins County Department of Social Services (DSS) at (607) 274-5030 or visit DSS at 320 West State Street during business hours.

After hours and on weekends, individuals who need service should contact non-emergency dispatch at (607) 272-2444 to be connected to on-call DSS staff.

The Cherry Street shelter is expected to house Code Blue operations for the next two winters.
