ITHACA, NY (CortacaToday) — Tompkins County residents are being encouraged to vote.

The Board of Elections says that as of Tuesday, the county had over 57,000 registered voters. Anyone unregistered can sign up at the BOE office on East Buffalo Street or through the county’s website.

In addition, county elections officials are holding voter registration events through late October. The first one being held in Saturday, September 14th:

  • Table at Airport and Community Preparedness Expo: Saturday September 14, 7am-1pm, 62 Brown Rd, Ithaca
  • Table on the Ithaca Commons: Saturday September 14, 12pm-4pm
  • Extended office hours/events (128 E. Buffalo St):
    • Saturday September 14, 12pm-9pm
    • Thursday October 10, 9am-5pm (Statewide Registration Day)
    • Tuesday October 22, 9am-7pm
    • Thursday October 24, 9am-7pm
    • Saturday October 26, 9am-9pm

Early voting for the 2024 general election begins October 26th until November 3rd. There are other dates of note in the upcoming election:

  • Last day to register to vote and for the Board of Elections to receive absentee or Early Voting by mail applications by mail or Online – October 26
  • Last day to apply in person for absentee or Early Voting by mail applications over the counter at the Board of Elections – November 4
  • Last day to postmark a General Election ballot or last day to deliver a General election ballot in person to a polling site or the Board of Elections – November 5
  • General Election: November 5, polls are open 6am-9pm
