OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) — The Tioga County Legislature has a new chair.
Legislator Tracy Monell was unanimously elected Friday, Jan. 2 to lead the county’s governing body, the first change at the top in over a decade.
“To my fellow Legislators and citizens of Tioga County, I thank you for your continued support and confidence,” Monell said. I look forward to working together to continue the County’s tradition of fiscal responsibility for our County and to a successful 2026,” Monell added.
Monell, who has represented District 4 since 2009, succeeds Martha Sauerbrey as chair. Sauerbrey retired in December after a decade in the role of legislative chair for Tioga County.
District 7 Legislator William Standinger III was elected as deputy legislative chair.
