OWEGO, NY (607NewsNow) – Two men face criminal charges in Tioga County.
On May 15, deputies encountered the pair while performing an early morning property check at a vacant commercial building on Taylor Road in Owego.
Authorities say Shane Kelley, and Cameron Smith, both of Endicott, were stealing “large amounts” of copper wire, and fled further into the building when confronted. A perimeter was set up, and the suspects were eventually arrested after they were found by police dogs.
Kelley, 46, and 33-year-old Cameron Smith are each charged with felony burglary, felony criminal mischief, felony grand larceny, and misdemeanor possession of burglar’s tools. Kelley was additionally charged with misdemeanor resisting arrest.
Kelley is being held in Tioga County Jail without bail, and Smith was issued an appearance ticket. They will return to court at a later date.
