CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – SUNY Cortland is expanding higher education options for non-traditional students.

Beginning in the fall semester, Cortland will offer a completely online undergraduate program for the first time. The new integrated studies major is targeted toward students 24 and older, parents of dependent children, or people who paused studies after high school.

“These students are motivated lifelong learners, extraordinary time managers, and everyday examples that it is never too late to pursue a college education,” said SUNY Cortland School of Education Associate Dean Kimberly Rombach. “Our university wants to create more opportunity for them to benefit from a Cortland education.”

The course material will focus on skills that employers have reported as critical across many professions, like communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

“For some nontraditional students, completing a bachelor’s degree may accomplish a lifelong goal that was put on hold,” added Rombach. “It may also serve as motivation for future generations.”
